For the most part these assholes, left and right alike, drive me crazy. But that isn't the point or question.

Does the same phenomena exist in Europe, and is it dominated by one POV like in the US; with our stronger group being the right? Along the same lines, do you also have a plethora of alleged religious programming supporting the political talking heads?

Regards,
Dennis

I think if you listened to our talk media in the UK you would find it incredibly tame by comparison to the US. More often that not the host/presenter is the sane/sensible one and its the callers who are controversial. There are still opinionated assholes left and right but they seem to be confined to print media, so at least we dont have to hear them. You're far more likely to read an offensive opinionated article than hear someone mouth off on radio/TV.

As for religion, its even more tame here in the UK. The likes of the Anglican Church actively go out of their way to offend anyone lol. The Archbishop of Canterbury drones on about all faiths living together peacefully and respecting each others POV. I wouldnt say religion and politics have a hugh influence on each other in the UK. You will quite easily get on as an MP/Prime Minister and leaving your personal beliefs to yourself or just vague. And our hardcore conservatives dont seem to be religious nutjobs at the same time it seems...

How long does it take to become a citizen?

I see you've learned your lesson on religious whack-jobs after Cromwell! We seem to go through this cycle repeatedly both with the allegedy religious and whack-os in the media! :(

The Christian Democratic party in Holland was discussing the other day whether they should actually emphasize during the election campaign that they had christian values. They hadn't done that during the last 20 years or so.

You dont become a citizen, you become a subject of the Queen of England. All your personal possesions become property of the Royal Household. If you plan on doing any farming, 20% of your yield must be sent via horse-drawn cart to the Palace. And dont bother planning any more Swan BBQs, the Queen is the only one allowed to feast on their juicy, tender meat.

Isn't the UK already the 51st state of the USA?

Hmmmm, that's a problem. I don't take much to nobility. Especially when I've done a better job with my family than the royals have done with theirs.

Seeing that hunting also appears to be a hobby reserved for the landed gentry doesn't work well either.

Fergie used to be hot enough to act as a drawing card, but recent reports say she's getting a little long in the tooth sooooooo, I guess the empire will have to muddle along without me! :hammie:
